ORLANDO, Fla., April 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Parkway Properties, Inc. (PKY) announced today that it has commenced construction of Hayden Ferry III, a 261,000 square foot, Class A development in the Tempe submarket of Phoenix, Arizona.

Hayden Ferry III will be the final phase in Parkway's 780,000 square foot master planned office community. The 10-story property will be located along the south shore of Tempe Town Lake, offering waterfront views and accessibility to the Mill Avenue entertainment district and light rail system.

Final construction of Hayden Ferry ramping up 6/27/2013

If you’ve driven through downtown Tempe recently, you may have noticed some construction activity commencing at the now-fenced off northeast corner of Mill Avenue and Rio Salado Parkway.

Well, you were witnessing the infant stages of the third and final office tower at the Hayden Ferry Lakeside development.

Orlando-based Parkway Properties Inc. (NYSE: PKY), which finished acquiring the entire Hayden Ferry project last year, is now ramping up construction of the $100 million tower in hopes of wrapping up sometime in 2015, Matt Mooney, the firm’s local spokesman, told me this afternoon.

Lofts at Hayden Ferry project moves toward launch 11/13/2012

The estimated $50 million luxury apartment project along Tempe Town Lake whose fate had been pending city approval is almost a done deal.

The Tempe City Council approved blueprints for The Lofts at Hayden Ferry late last month. That approval paves the way for San Diego-based developer Oliver McMillan to move forward with the purchase of the 3.7-acre site just east of the Hayden Ferry Lakeside project near Rio Salado Parkway and Mill Avenue, Michael Lieb of Michael A. Lieb Ltd. in Phoenix told me recently.

That land deal is slated to close in December for roughly $6 million, said Lieb, who is negotiating the land deal. The property currently is owned by an entity controlled by Sunbelt Holdings LLC in Scottsdale.

Hayden Ferry Press Release 4/14/2012

Ryan Cos. U.S. Inc. announced last month that it will build a 10-story office tower on the southern shore of Tempe Town Lake next to two existing office high-rises that house major financial and tech businesses.

The tower, Hayden Ferry Lakeside III, will be constructed on the northeastern corner of Mill Avenue and Rio Salado Parkway. The building's curving cobalt-blue design will mirror the existing commercial and residential developments on the south side of Town Lake.

With office space virtually full at Hayden Ferry Lakeside I and II, the lake properties that Parkway Properties Inc. recently purchased immediately east of the new project, Tempe officials said Town Lake is a sought-after site for high-profile businesses wanting a prominent setting to showcase their companies.

New Hotel in Tempe 5/4/2012

Adding to the wave of new development happening in downtown Tempe, a new Residence Inn by Marriott will open in late 2013/early 2014.

The 173-room hotel will be located on Fifth Street and Forest, just a block from Mill Avenue. The developer has the permit and could start construction this month.

The hotel is being developed by Miami-based Finvarb Group and managed by Marriott International. Access Point Financial, Inc., (APF) a direct full-service lending and advisory firm focused on the hospitality industry, is providing first mortgage financing.

Phoenix # 5 For Job Growth in Nation 6/4/2012

The Phoenix metro area added 36,500 jobs between April of last year and the same month this year, putting it fifth in the country for total job gains.

New research from On Numbers shows only New York, Houston, Dallas and Los Angeles added more jobs than Phoenix in the 12-month span, according to newly released data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Phoenix's job growth rate of 2.12 percent from April 2011 to April 2012 was good for 11th in the nation.

The 100 largest metros had 89.81 million nonfarm jobs in April 2012, up 923,500 from the same month a year ago. The year-to-year increase was 1.04 percent.

America's Most Fun, Affordable Cities 8/9/2011

The northern section of Tempe, home to Arizona State University, includes the Tempe Mill Avenue area, which has a greater concentration of restaurants than any other restaurant row around and offers both casual and upscale venues, according to the nonprofit Downtown Tempe Community. Nightlife includes swing, jazz, and rock-n-roll spots, brewpubs, and sports bars.

Tempe Named One of America's Most Creative Cities 11/7/2013

A recent study by real estate blog Movoto ranked Tempe as the tenth most creative mid-sized city in the country. The San Mateo, Calif.-based online brokerage firm wanted to look at mid-sized cities because most of these types of lists only rank the most popular city, said David Cross, content manager for Movoto Blog.
